Reduce Emissions
The modern car exhaust system does not just remove exhaust gas to the rear of the vehicle or reduce noise.
This system has catalytic converters which are amazingly simple devices which have been highly effective in reducing harmful exhaust emissions. The modern diesel engine also have diesel particulate filters.
This filters store particulate matter [black smoke] and under certain driving conditions the engine burns this matter off.
